What to Do: Injured on the Job


The majority of workplace accidents are preventable, but as we all know, accidents do happen. Knowing what to do if you have a workplace injury can be confusing. Follow these steps if you are injured on the job:

  • First, report the accident to your supervisor immediately, even if you are not wanting to seek treatment. If your supervisor is not present, report your injury to another supervisor within your department. 
  • Second, if you are wanting to seek treatment, request a Report of Injury to an Employee form from your supervisor.
  • Third, request that your supervisor fill out an Injury Treatment Authorization form. This will allow you to seek treatment right away for your injury.
  • Last, you or your supervisor should contact Human Resources and notify Risk Management of the injury.
