What is the purpose of the employee hotline?
The employee hotline is intended for the anonymous reporting of suspected incidents of fraud, waste and abuse, and violations of City of Irving policy, or federal or state laws committed by other City employees, vendors, contractors, and all other outside agencies conducting business with the City.
Who may utilize the hotline to report suspected activity?
All City employees have access to the hotline.
When is the hotline available?
The hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Am I required to identify myself when I call the hotline?
No, callers will remain anonymous unless you willingly identify yourself.
Will someone from the City of Irving listen to my recorded message?
No, only a third-party vendor will listen to your message.
Will the information I report remain confidential?
The City treats all information received through the hotline confidentially to the extent permitted by law.
Is the hotline my only option in reporting suspected incidents of fraud, waste, and abuse?
No, the City strongly encourages employees to report suspected activity to supervisors and managers.
What happens to my recorded message?
Messages are transcribed by a third-party vendor and then forwarded to the city's Hotline Committee. At that time, a determination will be made as to whether or not action is required.
What pertinent information do I provide in my report to the hotline?
You will need to describe the suspected fraud, waste, and abuse in detail. Include the name, department and job title of anyone involved. Also include the date, time, and location of the suspected activity
Am I obligated to report suspected cases of fraud, waste and abuse?
Employees have the responsibility to report suspected activity.
Am I subject to disciplinary action for failure to report suspected cases of fraud, waste and abuse?
Failure to report suspected activity may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
When should I report the suspected activity?
You should report the suspected activity immediately or as soon as you are aware of it.
What happens if my supervisor or manager is involved in an incident?
The employee should contact Strategic Resources or use the employee hotline.
Will a City official contact me regarding my report to the hotline system?
You may be contacted if you willingly leave your name and contact information.
